Competitive sports

As part of their academic education, top athletes at the University of Kassel have the opportunity to take part in a support program to coordinate their university education and competitive sports career. The aim of this cooperation is to prevent students from being disadvantaged in their studies due to their involvement in sport. Within the scope of the respective legal possibilities, all cooperations of this support program (University of Kassel, Studentenwerk Kassel, Olympic training centers, top associations and ultimately also the joining athletes) offer special services to achieve the goals. The general requirement for top student athletes who wish to participate in this cooperation model is that they belong to an A, B or C squad.
The main aim of the cooperation agreement is to enable top athletes to successfully complete an academic education at the University of Kassel despite the high time commitment involved in competitive sport. In return, the athletes are responsible for carefully planning their studies and regularly informing the participating institutions about their sporting successes. Specific services provided by the individual partners can be found in the cooperation agreement for the promotion of elite student athletes.
